About this opportunity

We are partnering with a growing healthcare startup that is looking for a Director of Sales to help expand its footprint across health systems and provider organizations.

This is a highly entrepreneurial, field-based business development role for someone who thrives on building relationships, opening doors, and navigating complex healthcare organizations.

While this position carries a Director title, it is a hands-on individual contributor role with no direct reports. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can independently own a territory, engage senior clinical and business leaders, and develop strategic partnerships that drive meaningful growth.

Unlike traditional SaaS sales, this role focuses on selling healthcare services and establishing long-term professional services partnerships with health systems.

Key Responsibilities

Territory Ownership & Business Development

  • Own and develop an assigned territory, identifying and engaging target health systems, healthcare organizations, and provider groups.
  • Build relationships with senior healthcare decision-makers, including Chief Medical Officers (CMOs), Heads of Primary Care, clinical executives, and operational leadership.
  • Drive new business through warm introductions, targeted outreach campaigns, industry networking, and in-person meetings.
  • Leverage internal lead generation resources and market intelligence to identify high-value prospects and secure executive-level meetings.
  • Independently manage territory strategy, outreach activities, stakeholder engagement, and pipeline development.
  • Travel regularly to meet healthcare executives, develop relationships, and advance partnership opportunities.

Strategic Partnerships & Consultative Selling

  • Lead conversations with senior clinical and business stakeholders, demonstrating a strong understanding of healthcare delivery, operational challenges, and financial priorities.
  • Communicate effectively with physician executives and clinical leaders, including individuals with medical training and extensive healthcare experience.
  • Position clinical service offerings as solutions to health systems' operational and patient care needs.
  • Develop professional services partnerships rather than traditional software subscription agreements.
  • Navigate complex healthcare buying processes involving multiple stakeholders, including clinical, operational, and financial decision-makers.
  • Work with internal leadership to structure commercially viable agreements that support sustainable partnerships.

Pipeline Development & Execution

  • Generate consistent engagement with new health systems per month.
  • Build and maintain a qualified pipeline of strategic healthcare partnership opportunities.
  • Track outreach, meetings, stakeholder engagement, and partnership progression.
  • Collaborate with internal teams on lead generation, account research, campaign execution, and commercial strategy.
  • Operate with significant autonomy while maintaining clear communication and accountability with leadership.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in healthcare business development, strategic partnerships, enterprise sales, or healthcare services sales.
  • Experience selling into health systems, hospitals, provider organizations, or large healthcare networks.
  • Established ability to engage senior clinical and business decision-makers, particularly CMOs, physician leaders, and healthcare executives.
  • Experience selling complex services, outsourced clinical solutions, professional services, or technology-enabled healthcare services.
  • Proven ability to independently build a territory, generate opportunities, and navigate lengthy, multi-stakeholder sales cycles.
  • Comfortable balancing relationship development, in-person meetings, strategic prospecting, and pipeline management.
  • Highly self-motivated, resourceful, and comfortable operating without extensive day-to-day oversight.
  • Ability to thrive in an early-stage startup environment where processes are evolving and individuals are expected to take ownership.
