About Rippit

Rippit is a new electronic music event discovery and review platform helping people discover artists, find events, and connect with the music communities they love.

We're building a more personal, intuitive, and community-driven way to discover electronic music, powered by accurate, detailed information about the artists, events, venues, and genres that make up the scene.

About the Role

We're looking for an absolute music nerd.

Someone who lives and breathes electronic music, understands the differences between subgenres, spends their free time discovering new artists, and knows how different sounds, scenes, and communities connect.

You'll work directly with Rippit's founders to build and improve the music database behind our platform. From researching artists and curating events to refining how we classify genres, you'll help shape how people discover music on Rippit.

This is a full-time, two-month paid position, with the potential to explore a longer-term opportunity if there's a strong mutual fit. Continued employment beyond the initial two months is not guaranteed.

No professional experience is required. Your music knowledge, curiosity, and ability to think critically matter more to us than your résumé.

What You'll Do

  • Artist & Event Curation: Research artists, verify information, assign genres and tags, and ensure upcoming events are accurately represented.
  • Genre Classification: Improve how Rippit categorizes electronic music, including identifying gaps and refining our genre and subgenre taxonomy.
  • Data Quality: Review artist, event, and venue information for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Music Discovery: Research emerging artists, underground scenes, and new sounds to expand our database.
  • Platform & Editorial Development: Work with the founders to improve our curation workflows and potentially contribute to artist bios, music features, and other editorial content.

Who We're Looking For

  • Deep knowledge of electronic music, from major genres to niche subgenres and underground scenes.
  • A genuine passion for discovering music and understanding how different sounds and scenes connect.
  • Strong attention to detail, research skills, and the ability to distinguish facts from subjective interpretations.
  • Ability to explain musical judgments clearly and back up factual claims with reliable sources.
  • Comfortable using computers, spreadsheets, and basic research tools. No technical background required.
  • Organized, self-motivated, and available to commit full-time for two months.

Bonus Points

  • Experience writing artist biographies, music journalism, reviews, or editorial content.
  • Experience with music metadata, genre classification, AI tools, or music tech startups.
  • Involvement in electronic music communities through DJing, producing, event organizing, label work, or other activities.

Position Details

  • Compensation: 5,000/month (10,000 total)
  • Commitment: Full-time, initial two-month position
  • Location: Remote, NYC preferred
  • Experience: No professional experience required
  • Potential: Longer-term opportunities may be explored based on mutual fit, performance, and business needs
