About this opportunity

Our client is an established renewable energy developer focused on advancing utility-scale solar and energy storage projects across key U.S. power markets. Backed by a global energy organization, the company combines financial strength with deep development expertise to deliver high-quality clean energy assets from early-stage development through construction.

The Engineering Project Manager will manage engineering and construction activities for utility-scale solar and energy storage projects, from development through commissioning. This hands-on role requires strong technical knowledge, project management skills, and the ability to coordinate contractors, suppliers, and engineering teams to keep projects on track.

What You’ll Do

  • Direct engineering coordination and technical project activities from intermediate development through construction, commissioning, and operational handover.
  • Support early project advancement by coordinating interconnection submissions, engineering deliverables, and technical planning requirements.
  • Select, engage, and manage external engineering firms, EPC contractors, and major equipment vendors.
  • Evaluate engineering packages at key design milestones, including 30%, 60%, and 90% completion, to identify scope omissions, constructability concerns, and technical risks.
  • Work with design consultants and project partners to resolve engineering discrepancies and ensure technical requirements are incorporated into final deliverables.
  • Coordinate procurement activities for critical project equipment, including PV modules, battery storage systems, and associated electrical infrastructure.
  • Develop and review project-specific equipment specifications, engineering criteria, and technical procurement documentation.
  • Monitor vendor engineering submissions, manufacturing milestones, equipment documentation, and delivery commitments.
  • Coordinate material transportation and delivery planning to support construction sequencing and project schedules.
  • Provide technical oversight of EPC contractors during construction, monitoring execution progress, engineering compliance, and schedule performance.
  • Represent the company in technical discussions and project coordination meetings with utilities, offtakers, contractors, and equipment manufacturers.
  • Collaborate with development and operations personnel to ensure continuity between project design, construction, commissioning, and long-term operations.
  • Manage technical priorities and project execution activities across multiple projects at different stages of development and construction.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • At least 2 years of hands-on project management experience involving power generation facilities, energy storage projects, or electrical infrastructure construction.
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent relevant technical experience.
  • Experience working with utility-scale solar, battery energy storage systems, substations, medium- or high-voltage electrical systems, or conventional power generation facilities.
  • Strong technical proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, construction documents, equipment specifications, and project requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate engineering consultants, EPC contractors, equipment vendors, and multidisciplinary project stakeholders.
  • Experience evaluating engineering designs for completeness, technical accuracy, constructability, and potential project execution risks.
  • Working knowledge of major equipment procurement, vendor documentation, technical specifications, and construction scheduling.
  • Strong project management and organizational capabilities, including the ability to oversee several projects and competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the confidence to lead technical discussions involving external partners.
  • A self-directed, detail-oriented working style with the ability to independently manage engineering and project execution responsibilities.
