Senior Accountant

Business Management Company, Inc. (BMC) is hiring a Senior Accountant who wants to own client relationships and be the reason nothing slips through the cracks.

You'll be the day-to-day lead for a group of business clients. You'll make sure their books, tax returns and filings are accurate and on time, and that every owner understands the financial health of their business. You'll also work with an Accounting Manager on quarterly tax projections and annual tax planning, so advisory work is part of the job from day one.

The basics

• Base salary of $75to $90
• Tax season brings expected 50-hour weeks from February 1 to April 15, with additional hours paid on top of base
• Tax season bonus, holiday bonus, and a company-wide incentive plan
• Three weeks of PTO in year one, plus floating holidays and summer half-day Fridays
• Based in Frederick, MD. Hybrid or local candidates preferred. Fully remote considered, with paid travel for initial training and spring and fall team gatherings

What you'll do

• Lead the ongoing relationship for a portfolio of business clients and share results every period in the way each client prefers
• Prepare or review business and individual tax returns, financial statements, and quarterly tax projections
• Own compliance across your clients, including sales and use, personal property, 1099s and payroll filings, in every state where they have nexus
• Review work prepared by Staff Accountants and Bookkeepers and give feedback that helps them grow
• Onboard new clients, from the first meeting through the first set of books and a roadmap
• Work with Accounting Managers on tax planning and spot advisory opportunities for your clients

What you'll bring

A public accounting background with 3+ years preparing and reviewing business and individual returns. You also need a reviewer's eye for detail and the confidence to talk numbers with business owners. You should enjoy helping newer accountants sharpen their skills. EA or CPA a plus, or on your way to one. We support and reimburse continuing education and certifications.

Our job track runs from Senior Accountant I and II toward Accounting Manager, with training at every level.
