Job Description

Project Field Technician
Project Implementation:
Install and configure hardware, including servers, workstations, networking equipment, and other IT infrastructure components according to project specifications and timelines.
Deploy software solutions, including operating systems, business applications, and security tools while adhering to client security policies and compliance requirements.
Perform network installations, including structured cabling, switches, routers, and wireless access points following industry best practices.
Coordinate with vendors and third-party contractors when necessary for complex implementations.
Migrate data between various cloud and on-premises systems, including but not limited to M365 (Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive), Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Docs), On-Prem Exchange, Kerio, Rackspace, GoDaddy, etc.
Technical Support:
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during project deployment with minimal escalation.
Provide on-site and remote support as needed during and after project completion, ensuring knowledge transfer to the client's team.
Collaborate with the Service Desk for escalated issues and maintain clear communication channels.
Participate in project planning meetings to provide technical insight and implementation strategies.
Client Interaction:
Provide training and documentation to end-users on new systems and solutions.
Communicate project progress and address client concerns professionally and proactively.
Serve as a technical liaison between the project management team and client stakeholders.
Maintain professional appearance and demeanor as a representative of our organization.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed technical documentation, including network diagrams, system configurations, and change management records.
Document completed project tasks in our PSA system and ensure proper handover to the client and service desk team.
Provide daily progress updates to the project manager and flag any potential risks or delays.
Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for common deployment scenarios.
Submit detailed time entries and expense reports for accurate project tracking.
Schedules: Ability to work flexible hours and occasional weekends during project implementations.
Job Requirements:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field preferred.
Experience:
5+ years of experience in IT support, system administration, or a similar role, preferably within an MSP environment.
Hands-on experience with hardware installations, networking, and troubleshooting.
Skills:
Advanced proficiency in Windows Server and Desktop OS (Windows 10/11).
Working knowledge of Mac OS X and Linux environments.
Strong networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs).
Experience with major cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).
Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
Understanding of cybersecurity best practices and compliance requirements.
Experience with remote monitoring and management (RMM) tools.
Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery solutions.
Physical networking experience is a plus.

Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Flexible and adaptable to changing project requirements.
Team player with the ability to work independently.
Certifications (Preferred):
CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+.
Cisco CCNA or equivalent networking certification.
Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) or equivalent.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
Willingness to travel to client locations within the five boroughs.
Will work from office in Midtown Manhattan.
Ability to work in diverse environments, including data centers, offices, and industrial sites.
Ability to work flexible hours and occasional weekends during project implementations.
Comfortable working in confined spaces and using ladders when necessary.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
