Job Description

Assistant Preconstruction Manager
Lead all aspects of estimating and preconstruction, including the development of bids and proposals.
Manage preconstruction activities such as site visits, field measurements, and budgeting.
Attend pre-bid meetings and collaborate with architects to review drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
Break down drawings and blueprints to accurately estimate project costs, including materials, labor, and logistics.
Respond to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) from states, municipalities, school systems, and other public entities.
Analyze unsuccessful bids to identify areas for improvement and enhance competitiveness.
Develop and maintain relationships with general contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Oversee the procurement of materials and equipment, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
Work closely with the Business Development Manager and Operations team to ensure seamless project handover and execution.
Track and manage project schedules, adjust estimates based on addendums, and ensure project specifications are met.
Support the continuous improvement of preconstruction processes and the adoption of new technologies.
Job Requirements:
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in building science, construction management, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
3-5 years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, or project management, preferably in the flooring or construction industry.
Familiarity with the public bid process and experience with government projects is a significant plus.
Strong ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
High level of flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and job functions.
Proficiency in estimating software and CAD is an advantage.
Willingness to travel within the Southeastern US as needed.
A team-oriented, proactive, and self-motivated approach to work.
