Position Purpose: The Senior Manager Pricing Strategy will lead a team of Managers and Senior Analysts that provide subject matter expertise, project management and analytical support to pricing decisions made by the merchandising organization during category reviews. This position is responsible for managing all facets of category Pricing Strategy Reviews (PSRs) for designated departments and should be seen by merchants as a thought leader on category and pricing strategy. The Senior Manager should be an advocate for implementing pricing best practices and thought leadership across the portfolio of categories.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities:
-70%-Develop relationships with Merchants and deep understanding of category business dynamics, and coaches subordinates to enhance their ability to make impactful insights. Partner with Merchants to set strategic priorities, goals and timelines for each review. Provide process management for monitoring progress and proactively identifying and communicating issues. Review project milestones, conduct postmortem analysis and integrate new sources of data that support category objectives. Lead team in structuring strategy reviews, assessing requirements and design analysis. Provide thought leadership to team relative to reviews. Oversee development of executive-level presentations that summarize analysis including historical category performance, strategic rationale underpinning pricing decisions and expected financial impact. Lead report out to all levels of management. Accountable for teams accuracy, thoroughness, thought process, timeliness and viability of recommendations.
-20%-Work with MVPs to develop and maintain a calendar of category reviews. Develop connections with cross-functional teams to further enhance analytical insight and viability of executing assortment changes. Provide program management of Portfolio Strategy. Deepen category knowledge through consumer insights.
-10%-Own SVP/MVP relationship for designated departments. Leadership roles in corporate initiatives, strategic projects, ad hoc analysis and reporting.
Nature and Scope: Position Reports to Sr Director Pricing Strategy; Typically manages 1-3 direct reports
Environmental Job Requirements: Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.Standard Minimum Qualifications:
-Must be eighteen years of age or older.

Education Required: The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Physical Requirements: Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
-Prior experience in retail pricing
-Prior experience in merchandising, planning and analysis

-Strong analytical skills including demonstrated aptitude with financial analysis and ability to generate insight from large and complex data sets
-Strong communication skills including the ability to effectively articulate viewpoint to executive leadership and ability to write compelling executive level presentations
-Strong project management skills and ability to effectively handle multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
-Strong financial acumen including experience with the retail and cost methods of accounting
